            Paolo Lagana

Paolo was born in Padova (Italy) in 1986. Paolo showed a passion for acting at a young age and starred in many plays staged by a small theater company in his native city.

When he was 8, his parents divorced. Paolo was raised by the mother and lived together until he moved to New York in search of new experiences, at age of 20.

To raise money, he did all kind of things and for a while worked in a restaurant in Time Square as a busboy. He took acting classes under teacher and stage director John Strasberg (son of Lee Strasberg).

After the death of his grandfather, Paolo entered a deep period of depression. He finally decides to became a filmmaker.

In 2007 Paolo meets with polish director Krzysztof Zanussi. Encouraged by Zanussi, Paolo makes his first film entirely on super 8, "The place where I am from".

Paolo is a member of the Millenium Film Inc. , an association based in lower Manhattan, dedicated to the exhibition, study, and practice of experimental film, video, and new media. It was created in the 60's and supported by Jonas Mekas and Ken Jacobs, who was initially the director, coming back to this position in 2011.

In 2007 Paolo is in the cast of "School in action", a teen-shown aired on MTV.

In 2009 Paolo moves to Bucharest (Romania), where he takes part of the so called New Wave of the Romanian cinema, working in films such as "Everybody in our family"(Dir. Radu Jude - Berlinale Forum 2012) and "Of snails and man" (Dir. Tudor Giurgiu).

He collaborated with screenwriter and director Gustave Reininger (Miami Vice, Crime Story, Corso:the Last Beat).

In 2011 Paolo plays a small role in "Itaker", an Italian-Romanian co-production partly shot in Bucharest. Itaker was directed by Tony Trupia and produced by Michele Placido and Bobby Paunescu.

Paolo continues to work as an independent filmmaker.
